Adam Stumpf, was born in May 1840 in Hammelbach, Hesse, Germany.1)Adam Stumpf and Marie Margaretha Knapp Family Tree, Bertha Morrissey compiler, privately held by Jean Morrissey Sanner [address private].  Adam, his father, owned or ran a quarry. Adam, the son, was a stonecutter. He arrived in New York from Hamburg in 1860 on the Ship, Silesia.2)S. S. He marries Appollonia Mary Madline Heppert (1848-1891), daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth, in Richmond, Virginia. They have 5 children. Ann Louisa (b 1874), Rose Appollonia (b 1877), Kate M (b 1880), Edward Joseph (b 1882) and Eliza Magdalene (b 1888.)

He marries for the second time to Catherine Halbeib, daughter of Valentine, on 20 Nov 1894 in Richmond, and has 2 more children, Joseph Adam (b 1899) and Margarette M (1902.)

He died on 25 Sep 1902 and is buried in Richmond’s, Mount Calvary Cemetery with his wife, Catherine.
